Mobile protest by mole man hit by poison ban

SHAW mole man Peter Brown has hit the road with his protest against EU rules and regulations that have cost him his business and livelihood.

The defiant 56-year-old once dealt with the pesky creatures at farms across Lancashire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire using strychnine — a common pesticide used by generations of mole-catchers for 70 years.

A controversial EU ruling which banned the use of strychnine has seen Peter’s business collapse and forced him to find alternative work. He now works in pest control with a local authority outside Oldham.

Peter has staged many a protest outside Oldham MEP Chris Davies’ office as well as writing countless letters.

He has now etched ‘deception and corruption rule’ and ‘unjust bureaucratic parasites’ on to his van in a bid to spread the message of his protest as far and wide as possible.

He said: “I can’t afford time off work to protest so I’ve gone mobile. I know that lots of people support me but ultimately, I’m on my own and I really need to get the ball rolling but everyone seems frightened to act. It seems nobody wants to hear the truth.

“University studies have shown that strychnine is the most cost effective method of controlling the mole population.

“I am not a trouble causer I just want the truth. I don’t want compensation I just want answers.”
