Move on or else, travellers warned

Date published: 28 October 2009

TRAVELLERS have been given until today to move off the former Ashworth abattoir site in Royton.

Around 20 caravans have descended on the land in Edge Lane in recent days.

They are believed to be the same travellers who set up camp on the former B&Q car park in Oldham last week — for the the fourth time this year.

Landowner Harvey Ashworth has posted a notice saying that the bailiffs and police will attend today if they do not move on.

So as I noticed today that the lovely travellers must have been moved only to find a new residence at the old hospital buildings that run along side Chaddy way (next to B&Q) When is something gonna be done against these tax dodging lowlifes.

Back to B&Q then?

If they are the same travellers as those at B&Q then why aren't their vehicles impounded until they pay the bill for the clean up and eviction court costs. (Yes, I know we need a site in Oldham) Only by fining them heavily will make them move to the officially designated sites. Giving travellers respect is one thing, but when they knowingly, repeatedly and deliberately abuse our people and town ,then its time to act.

sounds like mr ashworth has a better method of removing them than the council.
when will our council get a backbone and deal with this continuing problem more harshly!

sounds good to me caravan living i want some free free and more free do work bring the c**p home and dump it council will pay to clean it up.

Or else what? The council will do nothing either through cowardice or political correctness and once again the council tax payer will pick up the bill.

so now we have them over in royton blimey they get about a bit when they come to oldham dont they ? when will somebody get to grips with these travellers and sort it out once and for all we oldhamers are sick of paying for there mess when they go ,so come on get your brain in gear .

when we get rid of this pc and human rights nonsense, then the law will be in the favour of decent people, and not this type of scum,if it was my land mr ashworth,i wouldnt wait for the police or bailiffs, and these lowlifes wouldnt have our pathetic council officers playing hide and seek around this town anymore

Move on or else? Dont make me laugh wherever they want to set up camp they will regardless. They are lawless so not bothered about the council, police or anyone. I know of one woman who was allegedly broken into by "travellers" and she saw them running into a caravan and the police attended and said they were not allowed to go into the site because this would cause "tension".... there goes your taxes!!!

keith - Nothing to say about the apparent criminal behaviour of this ethnic minority...wonder why...for your info travellers (or in their previous name of gypsies)originate from Indian sub-continent so they fit into your category to criticise.
