A MAN is fighting for his life after he was assaulted in Clarksfield.
Police called to Cranbrook Street at the junction with Lees Road at 8.15pm on Thursday, discovered a man in his late 40s with serious head injuries.
He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital before being transferred to Salford’s Hope Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Two men were seen running off towards Brewerton Road at the time of the attack.
One is described as being of mixed race, in his mid-20s and of stocky build with a bald head.
The second man is described as skinny and was wearing a red balaclava.
The scene of the assault was sealed off for several hours by police on Friday and a mobile incident room was set up in Cranbrook Street.
Det Insp Javid Pervaiz, of Oldham CID, said: “This man has suffered very grave injuries. I would encourage anyone who may have seen what happened or who knows who is responsible to come forward. All information will be treated in strict confidence.” Anyone with information should call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951 or anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

White flight continues from the parts of Oldham that are no longer safe. Clarksfield has a 50/50 make up at the moment and looks like it will soon be another no go area. When will they realise that their multicultural experiment has failed
wat u mean no go area??? it was a white lad n a mixd race lad (white n black) that attacked him........
Another vague report by the Chron Did the second person have hole cut in his balaclava and wearing gloves or did he have a transparent complexion.
Gemma, you should phone the police asap with your information. Did you see something that hasn't been reported here, like the perpetrator removing his balaclava? Or maybe you should just read the article again
It was a person of mixed race and someone wearing a red balaclava--tut tut, the standard of some peoples reading of the English language.
No description of the injured man. balaclava used as they were in last weeks gang attack on the nearby friendship pub. Its easy to jump to conclusions but if I were a betting man
The second man is described as skinny and was wearing a red balaclava.
Where does it say that it was a white lad Gemma, or do you know something we don't ?
To read between the lines in todays PC world when it is someone white it's reported, when there's no mention it's normally someone who isn't
Have Your Say

Attacks on pubs Attacks on people, murders, shootings, the area is sinking into a state of anarchy.
Yet again a scant description of the attackers, and no indication of a motive.
