WINE buffs and gourmets will be given an extra special treat at a tasting session — a sneak preview of a Calendar Girls calendar.
The calendar, which features 13 glamorous Saddleworth women, will be revealed at the food and wine tasting at the White Hart, Lydgate, on Thursday.
Fund-raisers Beverley Heap and Carol Shawmarsh-Smith, who appear respectively as November and December, will be on hand to boost sales of the calendar for the Macmillan Cancer Support team.
Mother-of-three Beverley, from Greenfield, revealed that her own 76-year-old mother, Mary, also posed for the calendar, which is titled All about the Hat.
The ladies were photographed by Gaynor Wilson wearing a series of fashionable hats.
“Everyone had a great time,” said Beverley. “We all drank a few glasses of wine and champagne — and the pictures are marvellous.”
The calendar’s front cover features Cheryl Buckley, a breast cancer survivor. The calendar, on sale at £10 a copy, is available at Lucy Cobb, Uppermill; South Butchers, Greenfield; and Timbuktu in Yorkshire Street, Oldham, or by calling Beverley Heap on 07754-533026.
The sell-out wine tasting will raise funds for the chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council’s charity appeal.
