Have a say on next year’s budget plans

Date published: 15 January 2010

OLDHAMERS are being invited to have their say on council proposals for next year’s budget.

All six district partnerships will hold special meetings where staff from the council’s finance department will explain the current and projected budget situation and answer public questions.

Councillor Rod Blyth, Cabinet member for people and communities, said: “This is an opportunity for anyone to come along, hear first-hand what the budget proposals are — and ask questions.

“It is important that all citizens have the opportunity to understand exactly what the proposals are and, with this information, influence what goes on through filling in the the on-line budget simulator.”

The dates and times for the budget consultation are as follows :

:: West Oldham — tonight at 6pm, Crompton Suite, civic centre.

:: Royton & Shaw —Tuesday at 5.15pm, St Paul’s Methodist Church Hall, Rochdale Road, Shaw.

Whoop de woo. I can have my views ignored yet again as they always are. "Consultations" are a farcde. Ask the public then totally ignore them, like with academies, HMR and the latest giving away to a private company we have no control over of all the housing assets belonging to the PEOPLE of Oldham dependent on tenants being blackmailed to vote for it based on one-sided glossy propaganda. When asked what would happen if they voted no I was told "we'll ask again"

Councillor Rod Blyth, Cabinet member for people and communities, said: “This is an opportunity for anyone to come along, hear first-hand what the budget proposals are — and ask questions AND LIKE THE COUNCIL LISTEN AND TAKE ACTION WELL WE ALL KNOW THE ANSWER NO!!!!!!! budget simulator MORE WASTED TAXPAYES MONEY

Don't bother - find something better to do - like pulling out your own teeth.
They wont listen to a word you say

well out of curiosity i had a go at this budget calculator!
i do hope that ombc take note of what i did because by upping all the services that as tax payers i expect to recieve and cutting all the services that supposidly help the needy i managed to save £17.9 million!
all this help to the needy just doesnt seem to work. this is why after a decade of labours benefits boosting idea's we seem to be in much more of a mess!

dont get me wrong, there are some people out there that really do need help. but the majority out there are just lazy and become addicted to the benefits system and wholely rely upon it now which is just draining the services and budgets that we expect to get from out taxes.
its time it became a voucher system and they took the real money out of it to stop all of this.
