Free nursery places for two-year-olds

A FREE early learning and childcare scheme for two-year-olds is now available for Oldham families.

Oldham Council is piloting the Government scheme aimed at children aged two, extending the free nursery education currently in place for three and four-year-olds.

There are 151 places available in Oldham and 20,000 across the country.

Under the scheme, children and their families are entitled to 10 hours free early learning and childcare per week, plus support in the home.

Councillor Kay Knox, Cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “This free scheme is good news for youngsters and families and will ensure youngsters get the best start in life.”
