Reporter: OLHAM COUNCIL
Date online: 04 February 2010
THE former head of Oldham police, Chief Supt Caroline Ball has been thanked by the council for her hard work and dedicated service during four years in Oldham.
Councillors said her achievements included an emphasis on neighbourhood policing, a 27 per cent reduction in crime across Oldham, and helping to tackle forced marriages and domestic violence.
She said: “There are some great people in our community and sometimes people do Oldham down, but they shouldn’t.”
She was presented with a bouquet.
Chief Supt Ball is taking up the post of Divisional Commander at Greater Manchester Police’s North Manchester division.
Her Oldham post has now been taken up by Chief Supt Tim Forber, from West Yorkshire Police, where he was previously superintendent of operations.

Correction...."REPORTED" crime down 27% as it is widely acknowledged many people have given up wasting their phone calls and time. As for tackling forced marriages, well, this is another burden that now takes Police officers off the streets.
