Move to end horse cruelty
Date published: 18 February 2010
AN Oldham Euro-MP has welcomed a move to end the cruelty suffered by horses transported for slaughter.
Lib-Dem MEP Chris Davies says its great news for campaigners trying to stop animal cruelty.
Last week, a written declaration calling for action was adopted in the European Parliament. The declaration, supported by World Horse Welfare, was launched before Christmas to highlight the suffering endured by many horses as they are moved in lorries and trailers.

this is long overdue ,why a poor animal be it horse cow sheep or pig should be transported thousands of miles without water or food battered about in a wagon only to be slaughtered at the end of it its barbaric it should stop for all animals not just horses,i just hope that the emp has some influence

Maybe if more people ate horse meat in the UK then the nags would not have so far to travel.Less fat and more iron per kilo than beef and more flavor.
