Police probe taxi terror
Date published: 19 February 2010
A 29-year-old taxi driver has been arrested and bailed after a man was dragged along the road by a mini-cab.
The 23-year-old victim’s main injuries are to both ears but he also suffered cuts and grazes to his body.
A police spokesman said he was likely to be in hospital, believed to be Wythenshawe, for some time.
The incident happened in Dowry Street, Oldham, in the early hours of Saturday in what police say was an argument over the fare.
The victim got out of the car but was caught by a door and dragged along.
The driver has been reported to Oldham Council’s Licensing Department.
A council spokesman said: “Police are investigating this incident and we are liaising with them.”

The driver has been reported to Oldham Council’s Licensing Department WELL THATS A WASTE OF TIME I REPORTED ONE FOR USING THE V SIGN AT ME WHILE IN A BUS LANE ON LEES ROAD... NOTHING HAPPENED AS USUAL
without sounding racist - and i am not - i am curious to know the ethnic origin of the said taxi driver...especially as there was a big stink in last week's paper about a racial attack on 2 asian gents by a white male.
i am not expecting this article to get approved, but maybe i will be proved wrong.
Reading the comment by Keith, it brought to mind what happened to my son the other day.
He was driving on Union st. near the mini roundabout at Waterloo st, and had right of way.
An Asian male taxi driver sporting a beard, came at him from the left, when he should have been at the give way line.
As my son glanced at him in shock, the man gave him him the V sign repeatedly.
Apart from being rude, it begs the question, are taxi drivers clueless re the rules of the road, and are we safe using them?
Have Your Say

Hi I am just a little bit confused if the victim only has minor cuts and bruises then why is he expected to be in hospital for 'for some time'?
