White gang’s racist attack

TWO Asian men were badly beaten by a gang in a racist attack in Oldham.
Zafar Ali Khan (26) suffered a broken arm and both he and father-in-law Sikander Khan (50) were left badly bruised after being attacked by up to six white youths in Hollins Road..
The pair, from Werneth, had been out on an evening walk when the gang, aged from 17 to 22, hurled racist abuse at them.
They ignored it and tried to walk away but were knocked to the ground and repeatedly hit.
Two girls walking by stopped the attack and a passing motorist called the police and an ambulance. The assault took place close to the Limeline Private Hire firm.
Zafar’s wife, who did not want to give her full name, said: “My husband will be out of work for three to four months with a broken arm. It was such a shock and even now they are scared to go out of the house.
“It’s scary. You don’t expect anyone to do that to you. For a 50-year-old man to be lying on the ground and beaten is terrible.”
The couple were already having to come to terms with the death, from a rare genetic condition, of their 14-month-old daughter Arub last October.
Sikander has run a tyre retreading and repair shop in Manchester Road for 28 years.
Police have classed the crime, which happened at 9pm on Sunday, February 28, as a racial common assault and are studying CCTV footage. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call them on 0161-872 5050.

Surprise surprise the useless brigade have immediately classed it as a racist attack immediately confirming what everyone suspected was true.
There's no excuse for violence in any case, race as a reason makes it worse, but why do we continually see the authorities trivialise this when it's the other way round?
Hopefully veryone will recover quickly and I expect that GMP will manage to actually bring someone to justice. I'm not holding my breath in the other cases.

Whilst i totally condemn this attack, i too am left wondering at the state of Oldham. Try the chronicle search button and type "Asian gang's racist attack". No results at all. Now, i know that a few attacks by racist asian gangs have happened over the last few weeks yet no dramatic headlines to match. Until racism is recognised equally, Oldhams future will be in serious doubt.
Flake/MrTick the attack happened 10 days ago so not sure about hitting the headlines, or somebody getting brought to justice.
Read the whole story and dont jump to conclusions or you make your side of the story un-supportable.

More of our brave souls. Six against two, great odds. These attackers are as cowardly as the twenty who attacked three lads the other week. It doesn't matter the colour of your skin, you are still cowards if you need to be mob handed to take on two or three innocent people. None of the aforementioned would last two minutes in the Armed Forces.

A disgraceful attack by a bunch of cowards. The two girls who stopped the attack were quite brave, as there's no guarantee they wouldn't have been attacked as well. I wish the courts would view these things as seriously as the public do, racist or not, and regardless of the ethnicity of victims and attackers.
Every time i see a story like this this of unprovoked violence i could weep and i just wonder what will happen here in the future.There is a lot of talk about integration and a lot of it is true ,but unfortunatley while there are gangs of thugs from all sides roaming our streets then no one will be safe.I would love to see all these cowards locked up and the keys thrown away.Until the punishment fits the crime this kind of behaviour will continue.Forget the word racist it as become meaningless.
Linda, there are areas in Oldham that I cannot walk through simply because of the colour of my skin. The Police and politicians no this , they know which areas they are, yet they choose to bury their heads in the sand and refuse to recognise there is a serious problem in Oldham. Integration? Don't make me laugh, unless you are willing to try and integrate into an indigenous society it won't happen.

As many have already commented why are the Police and the Chronicle so willing to refer to an incident as racist when the attackers are white almost never call incidents racist when the victims are white?
This article reminds me of the one a few weeks ago when a large number of people were arrested in a major police raid. The Chronicle and the Police made it perfectly clear that the majoriy arrested were white.
Both the Chronicle and the Police should publicly explain their double standards.

Prior to the attack, the pathetic cowards hurled racist abuse at these two innocent gentlemen before attacking them.
I know this to be true since i attended the hospital after the incident took place and was told first hand by the victims.
I am a family friend of the victims for almost 25 years and they have never caused any problems of any sort to anyone.
the rest of the comments, in particular Flake and MrTick, as stated in my previous comment, this was a racially motivated attack, prima facie since the pathetic cowardly attackers hurled racist abuse at these innocent gentlemen.
Racism is a disgusting and totally unjustifying crime. There is no room for racism regarless of who is attacked, whether asian or white.

I myself agree with outcast on his statement of "I await the HEADLINE Asian gang`s racist attack". I am not from Oldham but a American married into a Oldham Family. Look at Town Center were the Asian Youths spit on other non Asian calling out racial statements while in packs of 10 or more. What do the Police do....Nothing. I am not for any attack of violence, but it is odd the Police turn the other cheek when non Asian are attacked.

Working in the capacity of a Manager with a Law Firm, Did you not see the families direct number for them to call? Why is that? Could it be the apparent reason to get the girls to make false testimony calling the family direct to sue the council and police taking a major compensation claim that hard working tax payers earn for a clear pay out of 100 quid? Yet at the same time using Racial Case Laws. Kinda sad.

first of all it apparant that you are not from oldham. If you were, you would the realise the phone no. you are referring to is NOT the victims no. but actually the police's!
If you are what you claim you are, then i feel for the firm that you work for. You of all people should know that, "he who asserts must prove".
Before giving false accusations, make sure you can prove it because you look awfully silly when you can't!
And the issue is not saving tax payers money, but actually getting some justice.
Before you claim the unbiased of the police, you need to look back at the oldham riots, when so many people were arrested and sent to prison. And guess what, most were Asian,getting sentences of up to 8 years, whereas the instigators, a meresly 18 months.
i am not saying i agree with any of these attacks, to the contrary,i campaign against racial tension.
We need to address the real issue and eliminate racism!

Ahhhh thats more like it.....lets hit the headlines with a 'white gangs racist attack'. Even though it appears it was...it cuts both ways......if it was the other way round the headline would read 'police hunt gang'....glad i am away from it all...Oldham sucks :(
