Dovestone volunteers needed
Date published: 28 June 2010
THE Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is calling for local volunteers to get active and lend a hand at the Dovestone Reservoir beauty spot.
The charity, which took over the management of the site earlier this year, wants volunteers for practical tasks such as felling trees, planting wild flowers and showing visitors the peregrine falcons at Ashway Gap.
Mags Martinez, one of the RSPB team, said: “You don’t have to be a wildlife expert and it doesn’t matter how much time you’ve got — whether it’s just the odd hour, a full day or even a whole month, we want to hear from you.
“The only difficulty might be choosing what you want to do.”

Litter clearing might be a good idea. The place is every bit as bad as it's always been despite promises from the RSPB. Inside some of the woodlands and grassy areas away from the main paths are simply dreadful with remains of fires, drinks cans, plastic bags and other associated mess. They only seem interested in touting for business and trying to get as many people as possible to join their organisation.
