A 14-year-old girl managed to escape after being abducted in Oldham.

The terrified teenager was able to flee from a car she had been dragged into when the assailant stopped the vehicle. The shocking incident happened as the girl was walking home along Werneth Hall Road when a blue Renault Megane pulled up in front of her as she reached Kensington Road and a man got out.

He told her to walk to him but when she refused, he gripped her wrist, pulled her towards him and put her in the front passenger seat of his car before driving off. The man stopped in the car park of Alexandra Park before the victim managed to open the door and run off. She phoned family who alerted the police. The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Sunday, November 20.

Police have now issued an efit of the offender and are appealing for the public’s help to trace him.

The man is described as being Asian, of large build, in his 30s, around 5ft 5in tall and balding. He had distinctive black spots around the lower part of his face. He wore a black jacket, a grey cap and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Simon Moyles, from Oldham CID, said: “Thankfully the victim escaped unharmed but she and her family have been left shaken by the ordeal.

“Understandably, residents will be concerned about this incident but I can assure them that we are working very hard to catch the offender and cases like this are rare.”
