400 log on to council

Date published: 03 February 2012

SCREENING a full Oldham Council meeting from live over the internet has been declared a success after achieving nearly 400 viewers.

The pilot scheme designed to make decision-making more open and transparent, and bring public meetings into the digital age, meant residents could watch Wednesday’s meeting from the comfort of their own homes.

The live streaming allowed residents to watch the entire meeting live on www.oldham.gov.uk.

As part of the new arrangements full council meetings now start with a 20-minute open session which enables members of the public to put questions directly to Cabinet members via Facebook and Twitter, or email.

Well done O.M.B.C. for this.
Nice to see what goes on at these meetings.
Shame about the Chairperson who hadnt a clue what was going on.
Good to put faces to names.

Baffling really that you can now put questions to the council through many different formats. I bet you still get the same non-answer though!

how much did this lot cost? public decision making- dont make me laugh! its just a comedy show- maybe the BBC could run this as a new comedy show? bet they would get more than 400 of the boroughs 219,000 viewer to tune in!!
