CHEERS . . . Keef Lawrence’s pub hs made it into the Good Beer Guide
A POPULAR Oldham pub has raised a toast after making its debut in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for 2013.
Despite King Street being hit by roadworks, Whittles continues to pack in the punters — and now it’s proved it keeps some of the best-tasting ales around.
The Ashton Arms, Carrion Crow and Up Steps have also landed a spot in the respected CAMRA guide for offering some of the best beers in Oldham.
Whittles manager Keef Lawrence said he was thrilled to see the entry after his hard efforts in running the pub over six years.
He rotates beers on five hand pumps — with one permanently as real cider — and goes through around 50-60 real ales from across the country.
While he knew he had been nominated, he didn’t know who the CAMRA judges were when they came in to sample his beer but will now be proudly be displaying a certificate on the bar.
