A machete-wielding thug cut off a chunk of his victim’s hair during a violent robbery in Shaw.

As reported on Monday, four masked men raided a house in Grains Road. Police have now released pictures of jewellery and belongings stolen in the raid.

The terrifying attack began at teatime on Friday. The woman moved the family car on to her driveway and was thrown to the floor from behind at her door by four masked men.

Her partner was violently attacked went he tried to help. He was hit in the face with the handle of a machete as the thieves ransacked the house looking for money and valuables.

One of the raiders cut off a small amount of the woman’s hair and told her partner they would cut her arm offif they didn’t get more money.

A family friend knocked on the door and was dragged into the house.

Eventually the gang left, leaving one of their weapons behind.

They stole a large amount of cash, a silver Apple Macbook Pro laptop computer, a Sekonda gold man’s watch, a men’s Roamer gold watch, an 18 carat gold Kutchinsky ring signed on the inside by the maker, a gold women’s Omega watch, personal cheques and a gold-coloured Arabic tea set.

The offenders wore dark clothing, balaclavas and gloves and were believed to be in their early 20s, and slim and athletic. Three were around 6ft tall and the other 5ft 7in-5ft 10in. They spoke with local and Asian accents.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
