‘Fiery end’ for Corrie’s Sunita in Rovers blaze

Date published: 30 January 2013

Shaw actress Shobna Gulati looks set to make a dramatic exit from Coronation Street.

Shobna, who plays Sunita Alahan, will die in a fire that destroys the Rovers Return, say reports.

The pub, a fixture in the show since its launch, is reduced to a shell in the spring storyline.

A spokeswoman refused to comment on reports about the fire, which will be in advance of a new Corrie set being built in Salford.

But a source said: “It’s going to be a very dramatic spring on Corrie. The Rovers Return will be reduced to a shell.”

Gulati (46) recently announced she was quitting the Street to focus on writing comedy.

The former Hulme Grammar School pupil shot to fame in Victoria Wood’s sitcom “dinnerladies”. She joined Corrie as shop assistant Sunita in 2001.

The most amazing thing is that the death of a fictional character on a TV show is considered news worthy!

Will not be sad to see her go she irritates the life out of me with the pouting etc

It's not real folks!

Corrie has fans the world over,I know people in Canada,Australia and Newzealand who would never miss an episode, can't see why,its rubbish, but there you are.

Apparently Shobna is an avid ManUre fan. Surely a better storyline would have been burning Old Trafford to the ground.
