Date published: 12 February 2013
A PENSIONER had to undergo hip-replacement surgery after being violently pushed to the ground as he got on a bus.
The 70 year old was trying to board the Oldham-bound number 76 in Piccadilly Gardens on February 1.
The man was queuing with his wife when a man with a four to five-year-old girl pushed in front of them.
When challenged about his queue-jumping, the man pushed the older man in the chest.
The thug and the young girl walked off towards Lever Street, leaving the pensioner injured. He is still recovering in hospital.
Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the offender or the girl from the distinctive blue flowery raincoat she was wearing to come forward. It is believed the offender may live in the Collyhurst area.
He is described as being black, of slim build, in his mid 20s and about 5ft 6in tall. He was wearing a black jacket.
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 3120 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
