Latics pride in defeat

Date published: 26 February 2013

Oldham Athletic went out of the FA Cup with a 3-1 defeat in the fifth-round replay at Everton - but pushed the home side all the way.

Within minutes of the final whistle the presses were rolling on the first Chronicle Green Final in 40 years - get your copy and don't miss the 12-page analysis in Wednesday's Chronicle.

We are proud of you Latics - and of the amazing travelling support.

Keep the Faith - we enjoyed the Cup fever while it lasted.

Thanks TP and assistants and, of course, the team for bringing Oldham a good deal of (positive) coverage in recent weeks. The cup run was an added bonus and will have put a few quid in the coffers but the REAL SEASON starts with the next league game and here's hoping the current form continue. Best wishes for the rest of the campaign - OAFC Philippine Supporters' Club.

Good run in the cup - much improvement since PD left and I agree with dramaphilippines that, despite the welcome income from the extended cup run, the real business is now about to get underway. I am quietly confident that Tony P will get teh players fit enough and committed enough to secure safety. Good Luck to all at BP and I am so pleased for the real fans out there.

Bury, Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and Colchester all won last night! Looks like one or more of Preston, Shrewsbury, Carlisle and Stevenage might get sucked in. I dread to think what Leyton Orient away might be like. Gulp. Come on Oldham, if this cup run has shown nothing else... on our day, we shouldn't be afraid on anyone in our division.

Well done Latics, what a good advert for OAFC and well done to the Oldham Chron for bringing out the special Green Final. Brought some memories back, that! Donald Taylor and Jim Austin should be looking down with pride at your achievements!
