Man jailed for raping vulnerable teenager

A man who raped a vulnerable Oldham teenager has been jailed.
Nishaan Mehta (25), formerly of Banff Road, Rusholme, was jailed for five years after being found guilty of rape at Manchester Crown Court. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Mehta met the 19-year-old victim as she left a Manchester nightclub in the early hours in November 2011. She was drunk and he offered to help her back to her home in Oldham.
But instead he took her back to his student flat in Rusholme and raped her.
Afterwards he called her a taxi - but the driver dropped her a short time later because she had no money to pay.
Another taxi driver picked up the distressed teenager and took her home. Mehta was arrested after DNA was recovered.
Det-Con Michael O’Connor, said: “Mehta could clearly see the victim was in no state to consent to any sexual activity and it is a reflection of his character that he took her back to his home address and raped her.
“She has had relive her ordeal in court. I credit her for standing up to Mehta and helping ensure justice has been done.
“This case highlights that there are people out there who will take advantage of those who are vulnerable. I would stress how important it is to stay with friends on a night out - and not go off with strangers.
“I must also reserve praise to the taxi driver, who instead of turning a blind eye came to her aid and took her home.”

Five years is way too low for such an offence.
If you see something familiar in this article linking it to other similar crimes then according to "progressives" you are a fascist.

According to the Biased BBC attitudes towards women on the sub continent are terrible, and yet by some miracle when those same people are living in the UK to even suggest that those attitudes might be the same is unacceptable.

This wasnt a racial rape this was a low life who took advantage of a young vulnerable woman and set out from the outset to rape her. The fact that he is black has no bearing on the case. There are evil people in every community and he is another one of them. My concern is that he will be out in two years time on the streets. People cannot change this aspect of their behaviour and there is a risk he will reoffend. What monitoring will he be under when he leaves prison? What about the victim?
Margaret F you are correct abusers come in all shades. But one Jimmy Saville compared to literally hundreds of other cases every year. Let's be honest here the number of rapes attributable to one community is way out of proportion.
Also using your logic let us dismiss the murder of Stephen Lawrence because the murder of Gavin Hopley cancels that out. Your kind of logic is only applied in one direction. It is never applied to dismiss the crimes of white people. It shouldn't be used at all.

Have you not seen the stories about the attitudes to women on the Indian sub continent following the rape and murder of a medical student on a bus?
That same cuture is never challenged one immigrants come to Britian, therefore this is yet another illustration of the failure of multiculturalism, and the 'diversity' industry has made sure that he has received a sentence appropriate to his ethnicity.

KPLees rape is a terrible crime that is happening across the country by individuals from a wide range of ethnicities. Something does need to be done but targeting one particular ethnic group is erroneous. I know you are a fan of statistics so consider that 1 in 4 women will suffer domestic violence in their lifetime. Violence against women must stop!

never really made the news headlines considering it was around the same time as the rochdale case! no BNP nazi saluters taking to the streets here? but i dont beleive i saw such a public reaction to the nursery school down south raping and taking pictures of toddlers getting the same media coverage as the rochdale case. Guess its not news unless its a non white face commiting crime!

This beast deserves a harsher sentence, people who prey on the weak and vulnerable in society should be locked up for good. Five years is a joke, I feel sorry for the poor victim. There is no relationship between (culture,race,religion,ethnicity) AND (Rape or Abuse cases). The latter comments above have suggested that gender inequality might be the issue, however this inequality exists in all societies around the world not only in the Indian subcontinent.

Rape used to be a capital offence, how is it that it now carries only a 5 year sentence?
Is there not the body of a young boy on the moors somewhere. One of several abused and murdered bya white British couple in the 60s. Flake, I posted on this article because of the suggestion that this person's ethnic origin somehow makes him more likely to rape someone. To think that some people would think that my male friends, from Asian families, are somehow more likely than me, a white person, to commit a crime of this nature is extremely offensive. I am certainly not a lefty. Nor a righty. I just cannot resist highlighting ignorance. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
