Post office raider caught on camera

TODAY we reveal the extraordinary lengths a desperate thief went to in robbing a Failsworth post office.

The man burst into Watchcote Post Office in Oldham Road, Failsworth on Christmas Eve morning and demanded money.

Police have now released CCTV footage n the hope Chronicle readers will recognise the man. The video shows the man pick up a National Lottery ticket stand and toss it towards the cashiers to shatter a glass screen and get behind the counter.

When the screen doesn’t break, he climbs up removes ceiling tiles so he can get through the gap between screen and ceiling into the secure area.

The thief then grabs a small amount of cash from behind the counter, climbs back through the gap in the ceiling and runs off.
