First step in crossing upgrade

Date published: 17 February 2014

BRIGHT new lights have been installed at the crossing where 12-year-old Annalise Holt was killed in Shaw.

Protesters campaigned for change at the Milnrow Road zebra after the tragedy, sparking a borough-wide review of crossing safety from Oldham Council.

This is the first step in a major upgrade process and the new LED lights help to illuminate the area and improve visibility for drivers approaching the crossing.

A vast improvement already! Hope the improvements will include the junction of Linney Lane & Salts St.

I still feel a pelican crossing is required here. There needs to be a red light showing to stop the vehicles and let pedestrians know when its safe to cross. I think these LED lights are a cost effective cop out.

You can now see the crossing from Rochdale Road and is a vast improvement. Now just need to keep up the momentum.
