Trucker charged with murder

AN Oldham lorry driver has appeared in court charged with the murder of a motorist in Cheshire.
Mark Slater (46) of Hillside Avenue, was charged after 56-year-old grandfather Trevor Allen, from Swinton, was discovered dead close to the side of his car on the A57 Manchester Road in Rixton, Warrington on Saturday morning.
A police spokesman said: “A 46-year-old male from North Manchester, believed to be the driver of a DAF articulated lorry, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.”
Slater appeared at Runcorn Magistrates Court where he was remanded to appear at Chester Crown Court tomorrow.
