A BRAVE teenager who battled a brain tumour that stopped her growing has been given a perfect pick-me-up: a meeting with skating legends Torvill and Dean.

Inspirational Emma Hall (15), from Delph, was invited to meet the stars of ITV’s “Dancing on Ice” in their dressing room during a recording.

Emma said: “I had a fantastic day. It was great to meet Jayne, Chris and all the celebrities. It was so much more than I had expected, with so many unbelievable surprises!”

Wish-granting charity Starlight arranged for Emma, mum Lucy, dad Robert, brother Aidan and sister Philippa to watch the show live at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire as VIP guests.

As well as front-row seats for the live quarter-final, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean welcomed Emma into their dressing room for a chat about the show and their iconic Olympic days.

During the interval Emma had another surprise when several of the professional skaters and celebrities said hello.

The Saddleworth School pupil’s growth halted when she was 12. The diagnosis of a brain tumour led to six tiring weeks of radiotherapy and the loss of her hair. But Emma coped throughout her treatment and carried on at school.

Her mum said: “We’re very proud of Emma and her positive attitude. Treatment and hospital appointments are a part of her everyday routine now but she is strong enough to be able to get on with her life.”

The tumour is now under control but Emma must undergo regular brain scans to monitor her condition and daily injections to help her grow.

Mrs Hall added: “She never complains.”
