STAFF in a sandwich shop were threatened with an axe in a terrifying robbery on Tuesday.
Two men walked into Farmhouse Kitchen in Oldham Road at lunchtime, walked behind the counter and one held an axe and demanded money then took the till and a worker’s handbag. They drove off in a silver Ford Fiesta.
The man with the axe is described as white, in his 30s, of slim build, 5ft 6in tall and unshaven and scruffy, with a slim face and small nose. He was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit.
The second man wore blue clothing.
Det Insp Lewis Hughes said: “The incident was witnessed by a group of men who passed on the information. When an officer returned to take their details, they had gone. I’d urge them or anyone else who saw what happened to contact us.”
