A skatepark costing almost £160,000 will be built at Coalshaw Green park.

Oldham Council has been given money by the Landfill Communities Fund to undertake the project.

The skatepark will be open to skateboarders, scooters, cyclists and roller skaters and will be accessible by able-bodied and disabled skaters. Work is due to start in the summer.

Councillor Graham Shuttleworth, chair of the Chadderton district executive, said: “It will be a real draw for young people and skaters from across Oldham — and most likely Greater Manchester.

“It will be a great place for them to exercise and have fun.”

A public consultation is now taking place to ensure the new skate park meets local needs.

Plans will be on public display at Chadderton youth centre and Chadderton library from June 2 to June 13.
