FOOTBALL fever has swept the borough as fans get behind England’s World Cup campaign with flags and bunting.

Michael Brady joined forces with other residents on Top Street, Greenacres, in a bid to roar the Three Lions to victory in the crucial clash with Uruguay tonight (8pm kick-off).

Elsewhere, Lignum Avenue in Chadderton is a sea of red and white after residents decked out the street with St George flags.

Gillian Wild, who lives on the street, said celebrating the World Cup with such pride has really brought the community together: “We have all come together for the football. Every evening we are outside decorating and working on each other’s homes.Come on England!”

Micky Bleach, an Oldham Sunday League committee member, has covered his home in Willow Grove, Chadderton, with flags.

And football fans in Delph caught World Cup fever by decorating their house to get behind England’s campaign. Ryan McCallion and Jamie Robinson, of Delph Lane, joined fellow residents in draping flags and bunting on their homes in support of their country.
