Roofers caught on camera

AN Oldham roofing firm filmed in secret by the BBC’s Watchdog programme has been prosecuted for breaching safety rules. 
Renov8 (North West) Ltd and company director Darren Potts were prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive after footage showed workers on roofs using a pressure washer without proper safety measures. The incident will be shown on BBC 1 on Wednesday at 8pm. 
Renov8, based at Links Avenue, Failsworth, was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £1,255 costs. 
Potts was ordered to undertake 200 hours of community service and pay £1,255 costs. 
Both admitted breaching work-height regulations. 
Trafford Magistrates’ Court heard that “Watchdog” hired Renov8 to clean the roofs at two bungalows after receiving several complaints about poor workmanship and trading standards issues.
