Oldham’s central “youth zone” Mahdlo is expecting its annual fundraising week to have raised thousands of pounds
A sponsored mile-high climb on the centre’s climbing wall, a business breakfast with football legend Paul Scholes, fashion shows and a host of activities at Oldham Carnival have all raised money to make the work of the centre easier to undertake..
Claire Crossfield, Mahdlo development manager, said: “People were fantastic; they didn’t just want to give us money, they also wanted to know how to get involved.”
The business breakfast with former Manchester United and England star Paul Scholes, attracted one of the biggest audiences in the event’s history and raised more than £400.
Mahdlo chief executive Helen Taylor added: “Mahdlo relies on the generosity of the Oldham community to keep our doors open, to be there when our young people need us and provide great opportunities that supports young people’s development. It’s brilliant so many people got behind Mad 4 Mahdlo and helped us raised vital funds.
People keen to volunteer with Mahdlo can email the volunteer recruitment team direct: nadine.cassidy@mahdloyz.org or fakrul.choudhury@mahdloyz.org.
