Oldham Music Centre Youth Orchestra on Tour after Concerts in Central Park America
MUSICIANS from Oldham are finding out if New York really is the city that never sleeps, as they take part in a musical trip of a lifetime.
The American public has been be treated to a full range of musical styles from the students at the Oldham Music Centre, who have performed in iconic venues including the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park and a guest appearance at the Long Island Music Festival in Glen Cove.
It was not all work for the 90 members of the group, as they have also had the chance to explore the Big Apple between performances, giving them a real feel for American culture.
They have visited the 9/11 Memorial Gardens and enjoyed a meal at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where the customers are entertained with some live performances of Broadway hits. The young musicians have made quite an impact.
