Shaw salon back on track

A BEAUTY salon owner who has battled to keep her business on track in the face of Metrolink has turned to the power of pastry promotion!

Jay Fletcher, from Nouvion Nail and Beauty Salon, at Station House, in Beal Lane, descended on early rush-hour commuters at Shaw and Crompton tram station on Friday to hand out free croissants and Danish pastries.

It was also an opportunity to hand out flyers about the salon as Jay tries to recoup what she describes as a massive loss of trade.

“In the five years since Metrolink have been working on the tram stop I’ve lost around 80 per cent of my business,” said Jay.

“We’ve been to hell and back and had absolutely nothing in compensation from Metrolink.

“We’ve put up with the road being closed over the last two or three years, inconsiderate workmen and pollution.

“We have done everything to get business back, including having the salon refurbished, but we thought it would be a nice way to get the salon out there by offering free breakfast and coffee to the commuters.”
