Pies look for new home boost

A PRE-SCHOOL is appealing for the public’s help to transform its rundown new premises after being asked to leave its current home.

Pies pre-school, originally based at Waterhead Parish Church, closed its doors for the final time this month after 40 years.

The nursery, which accommodates 35 two to five-year-olds, managed to secure a lease on a new property, Majestic House in Turner Street, however, an estimated £100,000 is needed to bring the venue up to scratch.

After failing to secure grant funding from Oldham Council, the nursery is hoping generous members of the public will come forward to help in anyway they can.

Pies committee chairman James Ryan, whose children have all attended the pre-school, said: “We are all devastated about having to close.

Rally

“We are really hoping the community will rally round and help us finish work at Majestic House — it’s an ideal location, still in our catchment area and desperately needed.”

The property requires partition walls, rewiring, plumbing, new flooring, a kitchen, landscaping and the car park needs to be converted to a playground with play equipment in order to make it a viable pre-school location.
