Vintage motor owners on the road

CAR enthusiasts from Oldham are taking part in the Hebden Bridge Vintage Weekend.

The premier event, in its 32nd year, is hosted by the town’s Rotary Club and takes place at the weekend

Up to 9,000 visitors can expect to see more than 600 veteran, vintage and classic cars, bikes and military vehicles on display, with owners travelling from all over the country.

Hugh Winterbottom, of Moorside, is looking forward to driving his 1933 Morgan Super Sports car at the bash.

He bought the car 10 years ago and has spent four years restoring the open three-wheeler to its original condition.

Hugh, who is hoping for good weather at the event, said: “It’s no fun driving the car in the wet and getting soaked.”

Electronic engineer, Frank Chadwick, has been exhibiting his maroon-over-black 1935 Austin 10 Litchfield at the Vintage Weekend for the last five years.

Funds raised by the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge at the event will help to support a wide variety of charities, good causes and individuals in need — with almost £32,000 distributed last year.
