AN Oldham man was jailed yesterday for a campaign of extreme bullying which saw a woman with learning difficulties fed dog food and raw sausages and forced to take cold showers in front of her housemates.

Main culprit Lee Andrew Carter (29) and his friends Stacey Dockerty (24), Kelly Hughes (23), and Steven Lathwaite (47) met their victim through Oldham Personal Advocacy Ltd (OPAL) — a service for people with learning difficulties.

The group all moved in with the 28-year-old victim and fell out with her when she failed to pay a month’s rent.

This sparked a disturbing campaign of constant bullying and humiliation at the property in on Clovelly Avenue, Oldham.

Carter was jailed for 18 months after admitting putting a person in fear of harassment and two counts of assault.

He punched the victim in the face and kicked her to the body with steel toe-capped boots.

He also shaved her head, forced her to eat raw sausage sandwiches and take cold showers while everyone in the house watched.

Lathwaite was instructed by Carter to serve up the dog food while Dockerty burnt her arm with a cigarette lighter, giving her a permanent scar.

Dockerty, of Birch Avenue, admitted assault while Hughes, of Clovelly Avenue, Laithwaite, of Beal Lane, Shaw, all Oldham, admitted two counts of assault and one of putting a person in fear of harassment.

They were all given 12 month prison sentences suspended for 18 months, with nine months’ supervision, and ordered to pay a total of £900 compensation.

The victim is now living with her parents in a safe environment.
