Rebecca’s charity bash

Date published: 08 August 2014

A MUM who never got to hold her premature baby is raising money for a charity close to her heart.

Rebecca Froggatt lost her baby girl 24-weeks into her pregnancy because of a blood clot in her womb that caused her waters to break early.

Ella-Jane was born on August 1, 2009, weighing only 1lb 2oz.

Rebecca, from Grasscroft, said: “She survived with help for 30 minutes but unfortunately, I was unconscious after being given general anaesthetic to help with the labour.

“I did not get to hold her alive but I was able to spend time with her before the chaplain took her.”

Now Rebecca is raising cash for two charities which helped her grieve for her baby.

Saying Goodbye needs donations to organise cathedral services for parents who have lost babies and Bliss — her second charity, champions research into premature labour and work with health professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for those born too soon and too sick.

They also offer “buddies” who are volunteers who help parents who have just had a premature baby.

“It was a really scary time but I met so many people who helped me through,” Rebecca said.

Bliss Prosecco Evening takes place at Muse bistro and wine bar, Uppermill, at 7pm on Thursday next week.

There will be drinks and canapés on arrival, as well as a raffle and live music.

Tickets are £15 each and available from Muse or online at mvswebdesign. com/charity/rebeccafroggatt/index.html

Those unable to attend the event can still bid in an online auction for prizes including an afternoon tea at Slatterys in Whitefield, glamping in Saddleworth and a bracelet.
