Travellers living on the Edge

Travellers on Oldham Edge playing fields.
TRAVELLERS who were moved on from a town-centre car park yesterday shifted their camp to Oldham Edge.
As the Chronicle reported yesterday, the group of around 35 caravans originally pitched up at Stotts Field, off Middleton Road, Royton, on Tuesday. They left a trail of rubbish in their wake — much to the disgust of local residents.
The travellers then moved to the former Sainsbury’s car park in Bloom Street. Police flanked by council officials visited Oldham Edge yesterday to serve the travellers with a notice giving them 24 hours to vacate their latest site.
