FOUR people were treated for smoke inhalation following a fire at Hopwood Court in Shaw on Saturday afternoon.

Crews from Oldham and Chadderton were called to the shelteredhousing complex in Assheton Road at 5.25pm.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. It is believed it started in an electrical box.

A Housing & Care 21 spokesman said: “We are pleased to report that there have not been any injuries and we are now working with fire-investigation officers to establish the cause. The building is designed to effectively contain fires and we can confirm that only one apartment has been damaged.

“The resident of that apartment wished to remain at Hopwood Court and has moved into a guest suite with full and on-going support from our experienced staff team in Oldham.”
