MUSICIAN Jake Smith is off to study law after hitting the right notes in his A-levels at Oldham Sixth Form College.
The 18-year-old from Failsworth has chosen to do a degree in the subject — despite also being a talented flautist and saxophonist.
Jake has toured Belgium and the Netherlands with The A Band, a professional swing, rock and pop group.
He has also played with the Andy Penzak blues trio, Oldham Music Centre and is a member of Failsworth Community Band.
“I will keep my music on as a hobby, but I don’t want to do it as a career,” explained Jake who got an A* and 2Bs.
“Music had to take a step back during my A-levels, but now the exams are over I am playing again.”
“I am really looking forward to university and I am at the age where I am ready to go and to move to a new city.”
