A FLYTIPPER was caught on camera by a vigilant resident.
And now Pardalian Sorica (43), of Villa Road, Hathershaw, has been ordered to pay fines and costs of £760 after being found guilty at Oldham Magistrates’ Court of breaching environmental health laws.
A member of the public photographed Sorica dumping waste at the former Phoenix Tavern on Charleston Street, Hathershaw on March 19 and sent the photograph to Oldham Council’s neighbourhood enforcement team.
The council prosecuted Sorica, who was also found guilty of dumping bin bags in the alley behind Villa Road, Hathershaw in April.
Councillor Barbara Brownridge, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and co-operatives said: “I’d like to thank the person who took the photograph for their vigilance and for sharing it with us.
“Dumping rubbish is not only unsightly but poses a health hazard. We will take action against those who act irresponsibly.”
In other cases heard by Oldham magistrates, six more people were fined for similar breaches, with fines and costs ranging from £180-£500.
