AN Oldham entrepreneur nearly fell off his chair when BBC “Dragons’ Den” star Theo Paphitis chose his business as the winner of a Twitter competition entered by thousands.
Mark Warburton (29), from Heyside, entered Paphitis’s Small Business Sunday competition in which he had to describe his business on Twitter within the social media site’s 140-character limit.
The entrepreneur chose his six favourite businesses from thousands of entries, including Mark’s company BrightPig.
His winning Tweet read: “OINK @TheoPaphitis #SBS We are a team of piggies with a HUGE appetite for helping small businesses become VISIBLE with effective #Marketing!”
Mr Paphitis announced BrightPig as one of his winners - and retweeted the description to his half-a-million followers.
Mr Warburton said: “We are over the moon. It felt as though all the work and effort I put in paid off. I didn’t know what to expect really but when I found out I was one of the winners I got the shock of my life.”
BrightPig is a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and social media company, which helps other businesses to become more visible online.
The devoted Latics fan saw a gap in the market and currently has more than 59,000 Twiter followers.
