ANIMAL-LOVERS have donated nearly £1.4 million following the blaze at Manchester Dogs’ Home.
They include X-Factor judge Simon Cowell, who pledged £25,000 following the death of more than 50 dogs in Thursday’s fire.
Cheshire Dogs’ Home in Warrington asked people to stay away yeserday after more than 400 went there to offer to foster dogs rescued from Manchester.
A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of starting the fire has been released on police bail. It has been reported that he was seriously mauled by an out-of-control dog earlier this year.
Stray and lost dogs picked up by wardens in Oldham are usually taken to Manchester Dogs’ Home.
Oldham Council has made alternative arrangements. Anyone who has lost a dog in the area should contact 0161-770 2244 as usual.
