Fake £20 notes probe

A COUPLE charged with possessing counterfeit notes appeared before Oldham magistrates yesterday.
Naomi Barker (22) and Thomas Cooke (26), both of Acorn Street in Lees, were accused of having 42 counterfeit £20 notes on July 4, last year.
Barker pleaded not guilty while Cooke did not enter a plea.
Cooke is also charged with possession of cannabis on the same date, as well as separate charges of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in December, 2012.
The pair will appear at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester on October 28.
Barker remains on unconditional bail and Cooke is held on remand.
