Belinda Laming - nominated for a military civilian health award
A WOMAN described as a “great asset to the service” has been nominated for a Military Civilian Health Partnership award in recognition of her work for North-West military veterans.
Belinda Laming, who works for Pennine Care Foundation Trust, is a drug and alcohol caseworker who supports ex-service personnel trying to overcome substance misuse.
Her dedication in encouraging her patients to tackle their problems has been widely praised - and she is now a finalist in the Healthcare Civilian of the Year category.
She said: “When I meet individuals for the first time, they’ve lost self-respect and they genuinely believe they’re not worth helping. Then they start to rediscover their pride and sense of self-worth. When that happens, it’s absolutely priceless.”
Principal clinical psychologist at the trust Dr Alan Barrett, said: “We are incredibly lucky to have Belinda in the team. What Belinda does goes above and beyond to help our clients.”
The national awards event is in London on November 1.
