Thug attacked father at concert

AN Oldham dad was savagely bitten and headbutted trying to stop a fight at a music gig.

Father-of-three Stuart Corry (47), from Failsworth, had to have eight stitches and emergency dental work after he was attacked by a thug in Manchester.

Mr Corry was waiting to watch the band his two sons play in at the Roadhouse when a group of drunks started to heckle and abuse the warm-up band.

One of Mr Corry’s sons’ friends suggested they leave and a man, thought to be in his early 20s, tried to attack him. Mr Corry stepped in and was headbutted by the attacker, who tried to bite his ear. He left his victim with teeth marks to the head, a dislocated tooth and two large lacerations to his mouth.

Mr Corry said: “I couldn’t believe what was happening. I was trying to stop someone from being attacked and he just turned on me. I spent the rest of the night in hospital and obviously ended up not being able to watch my sons play.

“This group of people were really drunk and clearly abusing the band as soon as they went on stage. They shouldn’t have been allowed in.”

Police inquiries are continuing but no arrests have yet been made. Information can be passed to police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
