A WOMAN who defrauded her employer out of tens of thousands of pounds has been ordered to pay back over £70,000.
Irene White (71) of Regent Drive, Mossley, pleaded guilty to fraud and was jailed for nine months at Manchester Crown Court in August.
White worked for Macpac Ltd, Stockport as finance manager. A junior member of staff noticed a discrepancy in the accounts when a supplier hadn’t been paid. White was later suspended and an investigation discovered tha she had taken over £120,000 from her employer. She was ordered to repay £76,519.
Financial investigator Ian Horrocks said: “She had even declined pay increases from the company because that would have meant paying more tax. Instead, she stole from them.”
