ON the road to recovery: mum Kim Harness with one-year-old Daiseigh who is now recovering after her ordeal
AN angry mum has slammed the NHS for failing to treat her sick daughter - who was eventually rushed to hospital with a serious respiratory infection.
For three days Kim Harness says she was told by health professionals at Oldham’s Integrated Care Centre and Royal Oldham Hospital that one-year-old Daiseigh had mild bronchiolitis.
She was seen by doctors at the centre via Go To Doc twice and in A&E but they didn’t pick up on the tot’s deteriorating health, said Kim (25), from Alt.
When her temperature soared and she was struggling to breathe, a visiting community nurse called an ambulance and Daiseigh spent two days in hospital on oxygen.
Kim says the whole thing was a nightmare: “I can’t believe what we’ve been through,” she said.
“I knew there was something wrong with my child and yet they pushed me away when she was so poorly. I was gobsmacked.
“Maybe they’re short of beds but my daughter was very poorly and I dread to think what would have happened if the nurse hadn’t called round. My daughter’s life was put in danger and I was treated badly.”
David Beckett, chief executive of Go to Doc, asked Kim to contact the service so a full review could be conducted.
