Three Oldham children have had their bikes stolen three times in as many months.

Ethan (12), Scarlett (9) and Mylan (5) are without bikes once again after their latest replacements were stolen from their garden shed little more than a week after being acquired.

Mum Helen Warburton (28) of Bridgewater Street, bought her children the first set of bikes in July and they were stolen within two weeks, along with a lawnmower and two scooters worth a total of £600.

The thieves struck again in September just after they had been replaced.

The bikes stolen in the latest raid were given to the family by relatives and friends because their mother couldn’t afford to buy them for a third time.

Miss Warburton said: “It feels like someone is watching and waiting for me to get my kids new bikes, so they can break into the shed and take them.

“It is coming up to Christmas now and they are all asking for new bikes. I’m more than happy to buy them — but it feels a bit pointless if someone is just going to break in and take them.”

All nine bikes have been stolen from the garden shed. Thieves are able to get into the garden easily because the gate was stolen.

Dave Woods of First Choice Homes said: “We have supplied an alarm and signage which says one is fitted, but in light of the number of incidents we’ll see if there is anything further we or our partners can do.”
