A DEDICATED Oldham couple have been recognised for their contribution to the care of vulnerable children with a prestigious foster care award.
Dave and Wendy Berry received the Outstanding Contribution to Foster Care award at the Foster Carer Awards in London.
Wendy and Dave, who are foster carers with Acorn House Fostering, were nominated by their daughter Katie Berry (23) for their commitment to children in their care.
Katie said: “My mum and dad are inspirational. When my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer she never thought about herself and was completely focussed on the children in her care.”
Wendy said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was told I was receiving an award. As a foster carer I feel lucky and would encourage anybody who is thinking about becoming a foster carer to go for it. It’s so rewarding.”
Gail Hopkins, director of Acorn House Fostering, said: “We’re extremely proud of Wendy and Dave. They are dedicated to providing a warm and loving home for the children.”
