Santa Claus is coming to town!

RAIN failed to dampen the Christmas spirit as Oldhamers lined the streets for the annual reindeer parade.
Excited children caught a first glimpse of Santa on his sleigh with Christmas just over a month away.
This year’s parade featured the 12 days of Christmas, festive characters, the cast of Coliseum pantomime “Aladdin” and the Reindeer Rocks youth band.
Crazy crackers and a roaming robin spread Christmas cheer while giant elves ensured children’s letters were delivered safely to Santa.
Town-centre mascots Ollie and Millie made an appearance as reindeer rested outside the market hall before returning to the North Pole.
Rebecca Green (27) said: “We’ve come from Manchester to see the parade. It’s always great for the children to see Santa and it really gets you in the Christmas spirit.”
Brass bands provided entertainment as Christmas characters handed out free hats, balloons and sweets.
After the parade, Santa officially opened his fairy tale grotto in Spindles.
Jason Littlewood (43), of Werneth, said: “Even though the weather hasn’t been kind it’s been a great day for the kids. Even as an adult it’s great to see the reindeer.”
