Westwood Park: to become a car park
WORK has started on a new 560-space car park for Royal Oldham Hospital staff - despite concerns from neighbouring homeowners.
The car park covers the former Westwood Park site and should be open by June.
Staff will continue to park across the road from the hospital, on Oldham Athletic’s car park, until the new site is open.
When plans were announced, residents handed in a 63-signature petition against the development.
As part of the deal, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will pay £400,000 for new play equipment on public open space at Cottam Street and give the council a plot of land on the neighbouring Westhulme site for a new grass football pitch.
