A community art project takes pride of place at the heart of a £15 million development that has transformed the St Mary’s neighbourhood.

The Cornerstones project has seen boulders turned into seating areas decorated with symbols and motifs representing an era in local history.

The five boulder seats form a timeline about the development of the Poppy Road land.

Local residents are thrilled the project has brought the community together.

Kelly McGrady (32), who lives on Poppy Road, said: “I have enjoyed everything about this project.

“I love the fact that it is leaving something behind that the kids can enjoy and it’s great that they can see their own names on the fifth stone.”

The site is at the centre of the development of 93 homes. Sponsor Contour Homes’ community investment officer, Shanine Meadowcroft, said: “The project has been a great example in telling this neighbourhood’s story and bringing residents together.”
